GENRE is a tongue-in-cheek love letter to genre fiction in all its forms, from TV shows, to books, to movies, to games. On top of being an intense, well-balanced strategy game, there are a ton of opportunities for interactive and emergent storytelling (if you’re into that sort of thing), which you can treat as seriously or hilariously as you please. Doc & Krueger have created over 100 unique genre cards, each inspired by a different category of genre fiction, such as Fantasy, Hard Sci-Fi, Zombie, Superhero, Western, and so forth. Each genre card comes with its own dice mechanics, special abilities, and player motivations, all invoking the spirit of that genre. You might see such zany mash-ups as “Lovecraftian Medical School Days,” “Kung Fu Romance Survival,” or “Post-Apocalyptic Sports Tragedy.” No two games are the same.
