Winnipeg, Canada — January 20, 2016 | 48 hours of non-stop painting on a giant 6′ by 18′ canvas roll that’s going to be cut into 26 pices and framed to put on display at different locations for 1 year, then shipped to buyers. This is the first time a painting has been created this way.
Artist Meghan Marks, member of the arts and culture association of Manitoba, has ambitiously comitted her career to dynamic pursuits in arts and culure. She hopes to make this painting event an annual project. Each year the colours are based on the modern design trend forcasts for that year creating, over many years, a visual essay of design.
“50 years ago this painting would have looked much different than it will today,” Ms. Marks says about the project, “so what I create this year will be very different from what I would create 50 years from now.” The fine art materials used to create the painting are the highest quality possible and should have a lifespan of over 500 years
Nine local musicians are confirmed to play live music at different times during the painting event, there’s going to be cupcake decorating, polaroid shots, socialization prompts, and a draw for one of the paintings throughout the event.
Anyone from around the world can log in to the YouNow channel “ArtsandCultureLive” to see it all happening. Leading up the the event each musician is going to be having an online interview through the YouNow channel. The interview and a story about their music is then put up on the website.
To make funding for this ambitious project possible and capture the trends of 2016 for coming generations you can pre order prints, commissions, or a framed cut of the canvas.
