Déjà Vu is a project I’ve been working on for more than two years and am very passionate about. I’m a student at the University of Central Florida down in Orlando and am studying to graduate with a BFA in the Character Animation program. Ever since I could lift a pencil, I was always making up my own characters and my crazy stories for them. Déjà Vu is my most developed story and one that I am finally ready to physically get down on paper. All I am lacking now are the funds.
The story starts in a post apocalyptic earth where the only creature left are anthropomorphic canids. Within these creatures, there are those with the ability to transform into giant feral beasts called Shifters. The government is actively working on eradicating the Shifters and society considers them a very dangerous threat. The story follows Cal, the leader of the Shifters and Saku, a girl who was working at the local government prison, as they work together with a group of other Shifters to discover the corrupted motive of the government and stop them. During a battle, Cal is injured and falls unconscious. When she awakes, she is a human in the human world. Cal now has to figure out the link between both worlds and how she can return to her own realm to help Saku and her other friends.
The comic itself will be 300+ pages and contain 12 chapters that will be split into 2 graphic novels. The pages will be black/white with comic tones with colored covers and splash pages.
The reason I’ve created a kickstarter for this project is simple: I won’t be able to be a full time student for the next 3 semesters due to the fact I only have 1 prerequsite left until moving on with my academics. I wont be eligible for loans so I’d be turning to finding a part time job. I have no issue with acquiring a part time job but I realized that this could be an opportunity to finally get this project rolling if only I could get it backed so I’d essentially be treating this comic as a full time job. Being able to go through with this project is super important to me and could really jump start my portfolio. I’ve already put so much emotional energy and time into writing the story and developing the characters, it would honestly mean the world to me to get this project backed.
