Hello everyone, thanks for taking a look.

We’re Dead Rocking Horse, a hard rock/blues band based in New York City. Our influences include Aerosmith, Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin and Guns’N’Roses amongst others. We began as a power trio, and are now a 5-piece (Singer/guitarist Marron, Bassist David, Guitarist Jaster, Violinist/vocalist Jacqueline, Drummer Julio). We have been together for almost two years, having started from absolute scratch on a couch in New Jersey and working our way up through the downtown rock scene the old fashioned way. We have no label, no manager, no producer writing our songs, and everything we have accomplished has been on our own dime. We are a real rock’n’roll band who works hard (some of us multiple jobs) and writes from the gut. We maintain an ethic of authenticity that is fast fading from modern mainstream music, and we wanna bring it back.

After having built a reasonable following, proving ourselves live and independently releasing our first EP, we are ready to make our first music video for our song “Down the Mountain.”

We chose this song as our first single because we believe that among current modern rock offerings, it stands out. This is a very traditional blues piece, based on a heavy riff in 6/8 time. It’s basic and raw- simply put, it’s rock’n’roll. The kind of rock’n’roll that we don’t hear on the radio anymore. We know lots of people who aren’t happy about that, and this is for them.

We love playing music so much that it’s the only thing we want to do for the rest of our lives, so we’ve got to do this right. Therefore, much like you wouldn’t record an album on your iPhone VoiceMemo and submit it to Sony, we can’t shortchange our video. We need a high-quality video to go along with our record, so that we can compile an EPK (Electronic Press Kit). This is what record labels and management look at when deciding whether or not they would like to invest in a band. Independent artists like us have almost no chance of moving forward with no financial help. Somehow we’ve gotten this far all on our own, and now we’re hoping you’ll feel inspired to give us a helping hand.

We believe that our particular style of music is about to come back in a big way, and it’s us and other local independent bands that are working hard to build the wave. Be a part of it.

Dead Rocking Horse is a New York City-based blues & hard rock outfit, comprised of Marron Chaplin (vox/guitar), David Alva (bass), Jaster A. Leon (guitar), Julio Arias (drums), and Jacqueline Stevens (violin). Actively steering clear of todays popular trends in music, Dead Rocking Horse is heavily influenced by the classics. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Aerosmith and Deep Purple, DRH taps into the main vein and feeds on the the lifeblood of rock’n’roll: the blues. Tightening their sound through hundreds of hours of rehearsal, every detail of their often unique song structures sounds polished, yet the music manages to remain honest, it still feels raw. This is rock’n’roll at its purest. This isn't a garage band regurgitating riffs from legendary bands of yore. Dead Rocking Horse’s music maintains a peculiar originiality, conceived in the gut, birthed through the mind. It grooves heavy, it’s strangely beautiful, and its deliciously dark and dirty. It’s just plain good blues infused rock & roll. Drummer Julio Arias is a power-hitter, with a monster groove that locks in perfectly with David Alva’s Motown-influenced intricate bass lines (which are often a song unto themselves). Guitarists Marron Chaplin and Jaster Leon are clearly of the school of American Blues Rock, pumping out powerful and precise riffs and leads with just the right amount of gritty looseness that can't be faked. Marron sings the blues. DRH is rounded out and further separated from the typical rock'n'roll pack through their latest addition of violinist Jacqueline Stevens. Jacqueline brings a classical element to the band that serves to elevate the music to high art and create a hybrid sound that is rarely heard in modern rock. The band's first recording, "The Dead Rocking Horse EP", was released in November 2012 to a jam packed Mercury Lounge. The gang has been actively playing venues all around New York City, including the famous Bowery Ballroom, Arlene's Grocery, and a return to Mercury Lounge. DRH has also rocked its way throughout the tri-state area, making trips to Philadelphia and Albany, NY where they have a strong growing fan base. There is plenty on the horizon in 2013 for this new dark horse, including a follow up record, music video, and new tour dates. Catch them live. See a real rock show. All sweat, no synths. Sucker free. See ya there! "Don't tell me that you grew up and now you're a serial killer because when you were a little kid, you had a rocking horse and it died." -Rev. Charles Paul Shustrick (Marron's dad), 1946-2010
