As Annual Cyber Crime Costs Rise to over $400B, BluStor CyberGate Solution Looks to Put Users Back in Control of their Critical Data

According to a recent report, cybercrime costs the global economy more than $400B annually. If you find that figure astonishing, the report by security software-maker McAfee and the Washington think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies calls it a “conservative” estimate. The upper end of the range is $575 billion. Losses connected to personal information, such as stolen credit card data, was put at up to $150 billion.

“Adversaries only need to be successful once to gain access to your data …” said Art Gilliland, Senior Vice President and general manager, Enterprise Security Products, HP.

BluStor PMC, founded by hardware veteran Finis Conner, is taking aim at cybercrime with the CyberGate smart card solution. CyberGate is an open platform designed to secure a user’s passwords, identity information, credit cards, important documents, and more — all stored safely in the their wallet and fully in their control. CyberGate enables users of virtually all mobile devices and applications to regain control of critical ID and information while avoiding the rampant theft occurring on servers/clouds that were once thought to be secure. Supporting multi-factor biometric authentication, the user’s data is stored using  hardware-based encryption and is securely accessed using their mobile device without ever needing to remove the CyberGate smart card from their wallet.

The BluStore CyberGate solution is an Open Platform to encourage and enable developers around the world to build and market their own apps. When launched, the CyberGate platform will be delivered with a Software Development Kit (SDK), sample source code, and all the tools necessary for developers to create their own applications.
