New iOS app brings old-world portrait painting to the modern age.

West Hartford, CT, April 30, 2015 – Jason Loblein of Formulus LLC is putting the final touches on a new kind of iOS painting application, which is gaining momentum on Kickstarter.

DAPPER Portrait Painter gives anyone the ability to create a professional painted portrait – no easy task in the world of handheld devices. This is achieved by combining aspects of photo-booth apps with your everyday fingerpainting apps. The result is a framed oil portrait with iconic graphic elements. It is sure to catch on at a time when everyone is looking to replace their stale selfie portrait on Facebook with something that will really stand out.

The process begins with a selfie, which DAPPER automatically renders to a framed, rudimentary ‘underpainting’. The underpainting helps to provide a foundation, so that subsequent paint layers can be applied. Each portrait spawns a distinct set of paint colors, perfectly suited to recreate the nuances of flesh tones and background imagery. DAPPER assists in the painting process by automatically interpreting each brush stroke with a set of guiding parameters. The result is that users will be amazed with the quality of their own work, even if they are inexperienced painters. As a final touch, DAPPER offers an array of images to adorn a finished portrait – period hats, clothing, wigs, pipes, and additional frames, to transform anyone into a character from another time; a 16th-century lord, an 18th-century Duchess, a king or queen. “Nothing on the app store does what this can do.”

Special features:

• Intelligent brushes ensure professional results
• Paint palette automatically adjusts colors to suit the painting
• Image library with 80+ free and unlockable items
• Upload images directly to Facebook, Instagram, or the public gallery

DAPPER Portrait Painter will be available as a free download for iPhone by mid-July, and iPad by mid-August.
