Millions of people are working on their language skills while stuck at home this year, but punching letters into an app is lonely and not very effective. Conversifi bridges that gap. It’s a video chat platform that connects language learners with native speakers for real conversation practice on demand.

“Now more than ever, we’re committed to connecting the world in conversation.” says Steve Krubiner, Co-Founder and CEO. Krubiner has dedicated his career to advancing international conflict resolution and cross-cultural understanding.

Kate Liburdi, Co-Founder and COO adds “I studied French for 4 years before landing in Paris and realizing I couldn’t understand or be understood in French. Like most learners, I hadn’t studied French because I wanted to write it; I had studied because I wanted to travel and communicate with French speakers, but my studies hadn’t prepared me to do that. Wish I’d had Conversifi then!” Liburdi has successfully built and led large scale tech initiatives at startups and corporations, but started her career as a language teacher.

The two founders met at MIT’s Sloan business school and are both experienced multi-lingual entrepreneurs with a passion for language. “Working with a friend is the best!” says Liburdi. “We have our own shorthand and a partnership grounded in trust and respect.”

Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, often citing increased confidence as a major benefit. “Real situations with real people” is how one Conversifi user described the experience. “It is a very simple way to immerse yourself in a different culture without having to leave your home.” another Conversifi user added.

Conversifi has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund growth during this move to learning online and would welcome more backers. Click here to learn more and support the campaign: www.kickstarter.com
