A lot of work has gone into preparation for our Kickstarter launch. Until now we have been developing Comatose with personal money. In order to finish the development of Comatose we need YOUR help to fund it! If you are interested in backing a small game dev team, and want to be involved in the development process be sure to pledge on our Kickstarter page!
Comatose is a psychological horror game that explores the dreams and nightmare of a man with a dark past. After a terrible car accident, you are put into a coma and forced to explore your evil and mysterious mind to build back your sanity piece by piece. With 100’s of different dream and nightmare sequences that can happen at any random time, the experience is different every time you play. Promised to drag you into an emotional and deep story, as well as the terrifying insanity of your worst nightmares, Comatose will make sure you sleep with a nightlight on.
It seems every horror game that is released follows the same formula: a dark environment, only lit by the circular light of your flashlight. While that may work for some people, our goal is to make Comatose a terrifying game without the use of cheap scare tactics. In doing this, we hope to give our players a fresh and exciting horror game, different from all the rest.
After a terrible accident, you are put into a coma. In order to regain your sanity, you must fight your way through nightmarish instances using whatever means necessary. You will relive the life of a horribly broken man, and along the way fight your darkest fears. Striving to be more than a cookie-cutter horror game, we will deliver a terrifying, dark experience that offers much more than your standard horror game.
After waking up in your coma, you will have to explore this terrifying new world – all created in your own mind. Through exploring the environment, you will trigger random nightmare sequences. In order to get out of your coma alive, you must relive your life and come to terms with the decisions you have made. These sequences are completely random. At the beginning of each new game, they are randomly created throughout the game, save for some key story driving sequences. In doing this, we hope to create a new heart stopping experience every play through.
These nightmare instances are triggered through several methods. Story line driving instances are triggered by finding specific items or places. Secondary instances are spawned randomly at the beginning of every new game. When you find one, you are instantly thrown into the nightmare. This creates highly stressful game play, where split second decisions can make the difference between life or death.
From everyone at AnimalKingdom, thank you for your support and we look forwards to working with you!
