It seems nothing is off-limits in the world of online dating.
‘Blocked’ is a collection of comics, art, and stories from that world of swiping and Bumbling one’s way to true love. This softcover book will feature over two hundred pages of full color art, with twenty five stories by comic artists and writers from all over the world sharing their insight on dating in the 21st century. Featured artists include Ignatz Award winning cartoonist Colleen Frakes; “Welcome to Showside” creator and “Adventure Time” comic artist Ian McGinty; Meathaus cartoonist and illustrator Émilie Gleason; Pixelatl Secuenci Arte winners Alejandra Gámez and Axur Eneas; First Second cartoonist Falynn Koch; and many more!
The anthology is being editing by Ally Shwed (Fusion, The Nib) and published by Little Red Bird Press. Little Red Bird is a visual arts studio based out of Quéretaro, Mexico and New Jersey, USA. It specializes in comics and printmaking, and has turned to Kickstarter for its last three (successful!) publishing projects: ‘Sex Bomb Strikes Again,’ a graphic novel; ‘Cats on Cats on Cats,’ an art book; and ‘Carpe Diem,’ a risograph mini comic.
The team at Little Red Bird is looking to raise $16,000, all the funds necessary to do a print run of 750 copies of ‘Blocked,’ along with the production of a bunch of great online dating-themed rewards, like stickers, handpulled screenprints, enamel pins, screenprinted tote bags, embroidered patches, and original art, including pages from the book and commissioned illustrations. Additional proceeds will also go to support the artists and writers who contributed to the collection.
The ‘Blocked’ campaign launched on June 13, and will be running through July 13.
