Finally there is a new line of watches that will incorporate some graphic elements on the face, rather than corporate logos and expensive brand names to show off how expensive your watch is. The very first line of watches is called Cobra de Calibre, and it features cool cobra around an anchor, on a vertically textured ceramic dial.
The product is launched by Johnny Lee, a Vancouverite in Canadian West Coast, who is a full time accountant with a great passion for watches, and a part time artist/designer. Since this is a new kickstarter project, the rewards are marked at agressive pricing of all under $500, and also with a modest target.
The features of the Cobra de Calibre is impressive enough to go head to head with some of the watches costing thousands of dollars. Miyota 9015 with 28,800 bph (beats/vibrations per hour) that makes the sweeping second hand incredibly smooth, and this mechanical automatic movement will never require a battery. It is 300M water resistant, and also features sapphire crystals on the front and also the caseback to view the mechanics of the watch.
Aside from the great specs, what makes Cobra de Calibre so appealing is its unique design. The dial and hands are unique and with Swiss-superluminova applied to markers and hands, they glow very bright in the dark. With the ceramic dial and its vertical texture, the cobra on the anchor will have a floating effect on dial, and the texture will reflect light at different angles. Finally the unique crown guard is solid and seamless to its design.
The watches also have drilled screw lugs to make strap changing a simple task. Whereas spring pins can easily scratch the watch casing without proper tools and experience, with a simple screw driver you can easily change straps to give your watch a new color, without having to make a trip to a watch shop nearby.
