Boston — December 15, 2015 | ChefCharger, a MIT based technology startup, is launching a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign on December 16th for Circle: personal use bamboo coasters which double as phone chargers.

ChefCharger, a Boston based startup, is solving a problem of dead smartphone batteries by offering functional and stylish chargers which naturally blend into any interior. Earlier this year, ChefCharger pioneered a line of tabletop smartphone-charging accessories, which included: beer coasters, candle holders, and salt-and-pepper caddies fitted with USB ports and cables. Stunning design of these chargers was originally developed for best restaurants in the world. The devices have been used by many restaurants in New York city, restaurant patrons loved it. The common reaction was: «I wish I had it at home»… So, the ChefCharger team is making it happen by launching the Circle – elegant and convenient chargers for at-home use.

The Circle is an elegant bamboo coaster with phone charging capability. Its standard set includes a wooden charging station, three coasters, and an AC power adapter. A user can place the coasters on a desk, kitchen countertop, or on a bedside table, as well as take it to a coffee shop or bar.

What makes this campaign even more unique is a collaboration with Jon Burgerman, a worldwide famous artist. Jon is an artist like no other: most famous for his doodle art style, Jon works across a wide variety of art media and styles. Jon’s talent has been widely recognized. He has received a Cannes Lions Advertising award, two D&AD Silver award nominations. He collaborated with Samsung, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Nike, Sony, Sky, BBC, Puma, Nintendo, MTV, Levis, Miss Sixty and many others.

Kickstarter backers now have options to obtain Circle sets decorated with Jon’s art made exclusively for this project. The sets will be produced in limited quantity. The Digital Themed set of three refers to the roots of ChefCharger startup – Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Circle by ChefCharger features a 3000 mAh battery. Made of natural bamboo wood, the Circle is food safe, eco-friendly, and can be used for both cold and hot beverages. It also contains metal walls and other special design elements to guarantee electrical and liquid safety. It offers multiple levels of protection from overcurrent, overvoltage, overcharge, or overdischarge.

As a cross-platform charger, the coaster is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows Phones, and comes equipped with a lightning or a microUSB connector. Its universal charging dock is suitable for all power outlets.
“Being MIT grads, we believe in the simplicity and beauty of everyday things. We want to make high-tech devices that will become a natural extension of our ambience; non-invasive gizmos which you wouldn’t mind sending as a gift to your college buddy or your parents; things that create memories and bring people together.” Said ChefCharger co-founder Lana Ibragimova.

To bring its innovation to the market, the startup team is launching a crowdfunding campaign on December 16, 2015. Early Kickstarter backers have an opportunity to pre-order the set starting at $60.
