South Bend Based Entrepreneur Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Raise $30K for Charging Cradle

SOUTH BEND, Indiana (July 16, 2013) – Alek Karpovs, an aerospace engineer and hobbyist entrepreneur, launched an $30,000 Kickstarter project to fund the Charging Cradle, an iPad holder that installs on existing outlets. It is modeled to complement Apple products with an aesthetically pleasing design which includes rounded corners and clear or metallic finishes. By charging electronic devices in the Charging Cradle, one’s electronics are protected from being stepped on or tripped over, and no longer take up space on one’s floor, nightstand, or kitchen counter.

The funding goal of $30,000 will cover all costs to bring the Charging Cradle to market. Karpovs is attempting to raise the entire amount on the popular crowdfunding website kickstarter.com. If the goal is not met, the project receives nothing.
The Charging Cradle concept has many positive reviews. “I think this is very practical product,” stated Sana Altaf, Quirky member. “I would love to use it. Good job Aleksander.” The Charging Cradle includes a bracket which is secured behind an existing outlet cover (either standard or GFCI) and a holder which attaches to the bracket with screws. The Charging Cradle can be set in one of ten possible configurations based on available wall space around the outlet. It is devised to charge one iPad or Tablet, or two smaller devices such as an iPod, Kindle, Nook, Smartphone, or other electronics. Cords can be wrapped around pegs at either side for safety and organization.

Over 400 million iPads and tablets have sold in the last five years. There are charging holders for cell phones, but there is no product currently on the market specific to Tablets. The Charging Cradle provides a safe and organized place to store electronic devices while charging. Pledges are needed to fund the Charging Cradle. For as little as $1, you can support the production of the Charging Cradle. Backers who pledge $30 will receive a Charging Cradle from the first production run.
