Imagine being invited to a party where you only know some of the people and the atmosphere is a little awkward at first. Then someone suggests you all play a drinking game and the awkwardness doubles. You don’t fully know the rules, someone is making them up as they go along and by the end of the night everyone is naked. With humiliation at high levels, you sure hope you don’t bump into any of those people again.
Cards with Character is an easy to play drinking game. The cards are passed around a circle of people and each person takes a card, follows the instruction and places the card on the bottom of the pile (unless instructed otherwise). This game will have you oinking like a pig, miming your words and winking at other game players. It will definitely be a night to remember without the extreme humiliation!
If you are thinking about pledging, here’s a reason why. The game has had plenty of positive feedback from games testers and even changed the minds of people who were sceptical of the idea. Also, as it is a card game you can easily take your cards with you and if you like the feel of playing a card game, you should definitely pledge for a deck of cards as the game is unlikely to be brought out as a card game beyond Kickstarter.
The goal for this drinking game kickstarter is to make it into a mobile app game. There are times when you’ve been out with a group of friends, at the pub, on the beach or just sat at home with little to nothing to do and darn, you’ve left your cards at home. All you can think about now is what a laugh you would have had if you had a pack of cards on you. Well with a drinking game app you would always have the game on your phone. Instead of passing round the cards, you would just pass your phone! Played in exactly the same way. Easy.
Who is it aimed at? This game is really for anyone but may become more popular with students as the cards are a great way to make new friends at a house party.
Where did the idea for the game come from? The game idea stems from the book created by Emma May; 365 Days of getting into Character. The book was written for a friend’s birthday and was intended to have 365 positive instructions or lessons, but after thinking up characters to be, a few funny instructions slipped into the book. On acting out these tasks, some were found to be quite difficult which gave light to the idea of adding them to a drinking game. From here, more ideas streamed out and the game now contains 29 different cards with a few multiples to make up a 52 card deck. You may also come across brilliant combinations of cards as the rounds go on and find clever ways to make your opponents drink.
Lastly, there is no way to win the game, but if you like, the person who is the most sober or who has managed to get into character the best is the winner. So use those cards to your advantage! 6 – 10 people are suggested for the best game play. You can play with less but be prepared to have many cards stack up on you!
The Kickstarter project is running for 45 days. This is to allow as many people as possible to grab themselves a pack of cards, so head over there now and grab yourself a pack. They are only available on Kickstarter!
