Vancouver, BC, Canada – May 6, 2015 – Campfire Films announces the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for its feature film HEADS YOU LOSE. The film is a crime comedy thriller that centers on the lives of two adult orphaned siblings living a mundane, small town life when a headless body appears on their doorstep. Based on the novel by Lisa Lutz and David Hayward, the story is led by a complex and strong female character while exploring the often quirky and challenging relationship between siblings.
Award winning Director Kyle Leydier has taken the project to Kickstarter in support of changing the way movies get made: “This is a story as much about the making of a film as it is about what it takes to make that film. The traditional studio system is broken, so good projects are much more difficult to get green lit. Crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter democratize the fundraising process, giving power to filmmakers and audiences to decide what projects become a reality.”

Tony Award winning actor Alan Cumming is set to star in a pivotal supporting role. “Alan is an exceptional actor with great depth and a kind heart.” Kyle and Alan have worked together on numerous projects including X-Men 2, Reefer Madness and Bad Blood, Kyle’s award winning short film adapted from the novel Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh.
The next step to getting HEADS YOU LOSE into production is securing a lead actress. The purpose of the Kickstarter campaign is to raise the funds to hire a Casting Director and make an offer to a top Hollywood actress to play this great female role.
“Being able to bring this story to the big screen is rewarding for so many reasons,” says Kyle. “For one, the story of a small town whodunnit told within a complex sibling relationship resonates with so many people all around the world. Then there’s the chance to create a compelling female character in an environment where there are so few of these in Hollywood today. It’s a great opportunity as a filmmaker.”
