Dreaming of being crowned The World Champion of Super Mario Bros. is a fond memory for those of us who spent our childhoods playing arcade games. Arcade fever of the 1970s and 1980s inspired TV episodes, breakfast cereals and pop-music, reminisces Tom Vergult, co-director at TerraNovita Software. Today, computer and video games are feature-rich; with motion sensing, 3-D graphics and multi-player environments, offering great entertainment experience. I try to combine both old and new with BouncerVR for Oculus Rift, says the gaming expert.
Beat the enemy by using only your vision in BouncerVR, a virtual reality game designed by Vergult. Control the shield with your vision to bounce the ball towards the enemy and collect power-ups through various levels. Be ready to be surprised as power-ups resize or speed-up the ball. BouncerVR has been envisaged for Oculus Rift, Mac, PC, Linux, iOS and Android. Play the game with Oculus Rift virtual reality glasses, on your computer with a mouse, or on an interactive hand-held device. The game also features social media integration and multiplayer experience.
BouncerVR is a treat for those of you who enjoy arcade games — it’s challenging, yet fun. The game has developmental benefits for children, which includes boosting spatial intelligence. BouncerVR also does away with motion sickness associated with some Oculus Rift virtual reality games, asserts Vergult.
The estimated cost of development is over $20,000. “Gaming enthusiasts are welcome to participate in the project by becoming contributors,” invites Vergult. There are twelve perk levels, with partnership at the highest level. A Core Funder enjoys full version of the game for a $6 contribution at a 70% discount, for example.

About Tom Vergult
Tom Vergult is a gaming expert, and also serves as co-director at TerraNovita Software.
“Due to my passion for software I started programming at a very early age. Aside from my main activity, building high performance Drupal websites as a senior consultant, my big ambition is to become a successful gaming consultant who is able to bring a more meaningful experience to gaming in general.
In 2002 I bought a small online gaming engine called ‘First Star Online’. In the years to follow I have rewritten this software and built one of the first free community centered MMORPG’s with the engine. Today, 11 years later, TerraWorld is outdated but still online for everyone who wants to play.
I have also been involved in a number of other projects on various platforms such as normal desktop, facebook and mobile android/iPhone/iPad.
Most recently I have built a storytelling game platform for our national broadcasting company VRT.”
