The Hush Anthology is a 140 Page monster anthology of different styles and stories. This Kickstarter will fund the first book in print and make it possible for us to print more anthologies, with different (and some of the same) artists in the future. This book was a test to see if we could do it (and we did!) so none of the stories have a set theme. Moving forward our next anthology will have a theme, whether it be LGBT, Hope, Politics,Personal stories, etc, we are currently interested in submissions for the next issue!

Hush is a group of artists that met in both the Art Institute of California and the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Every artist represented has a different style and is a vastly different individual. Many of our featured artists have been drawing comics specifically for many years but have never made it to print! Most of us are also under 25 years and are beginning a career in art.

My name is Rebecca and I’m an artist and the curator of hush, I started this project to make an easier outlet for other comic artists to break into print. I was unsatisfied with a lot of the other collections that were being released in the U.S. because I only saw the same creators and artists over and over again, I wasn’t seeing any raw and early talent and I was finding it difficult myself for my stories to be heard. So if your voice can’t be heard, you carve out your own way of doing things.

Currently most of the original artists who created comics for the last anthology are submitting to the next one that we will curate in a month. I’m trying to create a project that will keep going for years and will be accessible for many artists to have their work showcased at no cost to them.

I’m also going to focus more on themes for the next issue, think of chicken soup for the soul, but in a comics format. People bonding through their art and words, this is our true goal.
