New web series ‘Blasians’ seeks to increase Asian and Black Representation in Hollywood because representation is important.

Los Angeles, CA – Why aren’t there more Asians on television? Why don’t we see positive illustrations of Black and Asian relationships? How does television look when a cast and crew are diverse and inclusive? Those are some of the questions that Blasians, a web series dramedy about Asian and Black best friends living in San Francisco, seeks to answer.

Created by Black American and African writer/producer Amie Darboe and directed by Thai writer/director Pongkarnda ‘Kik’ Udomprasert, Blasians explores the complicated, hilarious, and sometimes difficult things woke millennials of color go through on their path to self-actualization. The show not only shows the beauty of Black and Asian relationships, but also includes major themes that center around friendship, love, potential, and forgiveness.

This diverse and inclusive show has cast and crew members who identify as Asian, Black, Pacific Islander, Latinx, White, queer, and immigrant. Blasians seeks to raise $35,000 to begin filming its first season in Los Angeles this fall. It is fundraising through Kickstarter from now until August 10, 2018.

Blasians is ultimately a story about friendship and love. We don’t see too many stories about Asian and Black relationships in media. This project can change that with your help. We can’t do this without you. Help increase representation on screens.
