This just-launched Kickstarter project combines an old standard, the koozie, with a bit of technology to bring to life The Bevometer. Just insert a beverage and both counters on the digital display screen — “this time” and “lifetime” — will increase by one. Definitely entertaining, and also quite useful.
The creators of the Bevometer, Justin and Jenny Richmond of Des Moines, are proud of its quality construction and materials. “In order for us to grab the attention of our target audience, the Bevometer has to be the same size as a traditional foam koozie, be light weight, fun to look at and even more fun to use,” Jenny passionately explains. “We’ve accomplished our goal in spades. It feels great, it looks awesome and it functions exactly as we envisioned from day one… maybe even better.”
Most people’s first thought is that the Bevometer is great for beer. No doubt about that! In addition to easily tracking adult beverages, the Bevometer can be used to count ounces of water consumed daily or number of sodas during a work week. This versatility gives the Bevometer a double-dose of potential – use it for fun and to support a healthy lifestyle.
The source for their idea is almost as cool as the product. Justin’s parents were visiting them in Portland, Oregon one summer and his dad had his trusty “BudKooz” along for the trip. “One evening we started joking about how many beverages this relic had seen during years of my dad’s dedicated use. We all laughed and laughed as he shared so many fun times. My dad’s stories became our inspiration for the Bevometer,” Justin shares.
“I thought it was a great idea from day-one, but the support from every single person we mentioned it to is what convinced us to move forward,” he adds. The Richmonds have worked for over three years validating, protecting and perfecting the Bevometer. They are on the brink of realizing their dream: a truly great product supported by a strong brand identity and a resilient business structure. They’ve personally financed to this point and now need support for their first minimum quantity order.
The first $5000 that they hope to raise via Kickstarter will help produce the first minimum quantity color combination, sleek black foam with a silver display screen. Stretch goals for additional color combinations and the ability to pursue licensing rights with sports teams and other popular organizations will be added if Bevometer meets its primary goal. The campaign ends on March 14, 2014.
The Bevometer’s appeal goes beyond keeping your drink cool and tracking your consumption. The opportunities to use it as a promotional tool are terrific. We all have enough t-shirts, key chains and mugs. Why not try something new? The Bevometer can be customized to help you celebrate, support, promote, show appreciation, as gifts, give-aways… the list is endless.
Who would’ve ever thought a can cooler could be so awesome?
