Los Angeles, November 25, 2020 — Banished Shadow has recently launched a Kickstarter supporting the upcoming release of her comic Talyn – Seed of Darkness (Issue 1) written and created by Caspian Darke and co-written by Geoffrey Vincent.
Talyn – Seed of Darkness follows a reckless street-fighter carving out a living in the dangerous underworld of Remnant, a city where humans are as dispensable as the trash littering the street. While struggling to survive, Talyn finds hope and light in her mischievous little sister, Tessa. But when Tessa is taken by a mysterious ghost-like entity, Talyn is thrust into a mystery and cursed with an ancient mystical power, pushing her dark temper and brash nature to a breaking point.
After coming across Banished Shadow’s character concepts online, Caspian contacted her to potentially flush out a story about a female MMA fighter trading blows with a cast of battle-worn, but intriguing, creatures in a dark metropolis. They decided to develop the world around the backstories of Banished Shadow’s Badassery Women, using each character’s individual journey as a narrative framework for the series, therefore making the story more woman-centric.
Caspian says, “I loved the characters and the art style Banished created. So we took our time extracting the backstory of the characters to create an immersive, exciting, and living world. A world that served as fertile soil for a new kind of dark fantasy narrative.”
Banished adds: “Growing up, I guess there just weren’t many strong female characters out there. With the characters in Talyn, I just ended up doing it myself and making characters that I like.”
Backers who support the comic have a chance to receive a number of rewards and prizes ranging from digital wallpaper, personal artwork from Banished Shadow, an exclusive digital deluxe book, limited edition bookmarks, and a mystery box featuring a print from an Hugo-winning cover artist.
The Kickstarter for Talyn – Seed of Darkness #1 runs until December 9, 2020.
