Self-Published Author Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Publish ‘Sacrifice’ Novel
New adult urban-fantasy novel to bring more diversity to literature.
Conyers, GA- Self-published author S.E. Doster has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for her latest novel, Sacrifice. The campaign, which began on September 4, aims to raise $3200 to offset some of the publishing costs for the fiction novel the author hopes will bring more diversity to literature.
“Sacrifice is Supernatural meets Heroes with a cast of characters diverse by both race and sexual orientation,” Doster said. “In a world enriched with literature and with the growing acceptance of equality, the selection of LGBTQ friendly novels is very limited. This novel is the beginning of a journey to change that.”
Sacrifice is a passionate urban-fantasy novel targeting the LGBTQ community with an action packed thriller involving meta-humans and supernatural characters. The story surrounds a gay protagonist, Katherine Reese, who joins the meta-human military and must sign a contract which revokes her freedom in order to protect the people she loves from supernatural threats. Against the rules of her military contract, which forbids friends or romantic relationships outside of the military, Kat gets a girlfriend and discovers she might have to sacrifice everything to save those she loves.
Money raised from the Kickstarter campaign will cover the costly professional editing expenses, eBook and paperback formatting, a professionally designed cover, and printing and shipping reward costs. Backers can pledge anywhere from $5 to $500 to be eligible to receive several reward options, including a coupon for a free download of a digital copy of Sacrifice through Smashwords. Some pledgers will also receive an 11×17 print of the P.R. Dedelis Sacrifice illustration.
Rewards are estimated to be delivered by December 2014. Sacrifice is the second novel for the author, who previously self-published The Alliance: Bloodlines, a young adult novel.
