London, 27th May — An illustrated collection of four children’s books that foster respect and show the value of differences through diversity awareness. Diversity is an important issue these days. However, diversity is still underrepresented in Children’s books (less than 25% in US and 4% in UK in 2018). In addition, most diversity children’s books mainly focus on one specific type of diversity, for example gender. Aquaelar tries to present a wider perspective illustrating all diversity in society, how everyone’s differences can bring value to each other.
Aquaelar is an engaging collection of books for children and parents that fosters respect and shows the value of differences through diversity awareness. Each of the characters provides a different role to the story. Aquaelar also promotes values such us friendship, teamwork, environmental respect and healthy living.
These books submerge us in the story of Marty and Isa, two siblings that accidentally end up in a fantastic underwater place, named Aquaelar. There, they become mermaids and meet their new friends: Lola, Pulpi, Bally, and Ray, with whom they share inspirational fun adventures.
Aquaelar is running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter until 11th June – Join to the campaign and help us, we are 60% funded so far!
“Most Diversity children’s books focus on a single aspect. My idea is to explore these aspects more holistically and in a natural way. The same way we see in our communities”- Raquel Santamaria
