Brisbane, Queensland, Australia  – January 11, 2015 – A non-profit organisation providing shelter for women and children in their time of need is looking for funds to make their shelter sustainable.

The shelter consists of 4 houses sitting together on one acre in a small town in regional Queensland where women and their families can come and stay when they need to seek refuge.

The women and families who use this shelter can come from anywhere. The location is within one hours drive from a major regional airport. To help make it easier for the families who many need help, the shelter will assist with the cost of flights for any person in need.

The cause for this shelter runs deep. The cycle of violence and despair is difficult to escape, and their goal  is to give those dependent upon on the shelter every chance possible to start again in a safe and secure location. With the four houses, each consisting of 3 bedrooms, they are able to accomodate women on their own, or even whole families in need. The location chosen for the shelter is far removed from where these families have come, and provides peace and quiet in a quietly supportive small community with all amenities including a local police station for support.

Needed is the funds to keep the program going, and allow the shelter to provide free accomodations to both patrons and volunteer staff. The seeds to this program are already secured through a a generous donation of partial ownership of this property to the group running the shelter, and the first two houses are ready  for occupation. Volunteers are generously helping to run the program and are also provided free accomodation. While there is no cost to any woman or family staying with us, the shelter is relying on the support of donors to make this sustainable.

Any assistance, however small, will help to keep this program going. Thank you.
