Five Teenagers Need Your Help to Fund Their Debut Album on Kickstarter.

“Rap is more than a hobby for us, it’s a passion. Lately the world has been forgetting that music is for the people, and it’s our job to help them remember.” – Jeak Rivers (@JeakRivers)

Meet Kollective, a teenage rap group based in Greensboro, North Carolina. The group was formed back in 2011, simply as a hobby for a couple of high school sophomores but has recently evolved into a serious musical entity ready to take on the industry headfirst.

The group consists of four local teenage emcees along with a producer. As of now, Kollective is entirely independent, meaning everything they’ve done up to this point has been accomplished by a couple of teenagers. Amazingly enough, they’ve managed to create a brand for themselves, continuously put out high quality material, and even headline for national acts such as ABK of Psychopathic Records. All of this accomplished on their own, without management or a team behind them.

To keep the ball rolling, Kollective is launching a Kickstarter to fund for their debut group album. Since they haven’t launched the project yet, you won’t be able to donate but you can still view the draft on Kickstarter here: www.kickstarter.com

The project will consist of ten tracks, including three singles, which will be released sometime in early 2015. Honestly, you have to admit it, they’re taking the right approach. It can be hard for unsigned artists to take their careers to the next level, especially when they live in a relatively unknown city. However, Kollective has done their research and know exactly what they have to do to make it big.

Kickstarter campaigns operate under an “all-or-nothing” funding model, so if their project doesn’t reach its goal of $4000 at the end of 30 days, then Kollective goes home empty-handed. Be sure to follow them on Twitter (@KollectiveGang) to follow their progress and make sure to spread the word to your social media networks.  Consider donating as little as $1 to help their project come to life.  If you decide to donate more, you might be among the few people that can honestly say that they’ve helped dreams come true.
