After graduating high school with two feature length films under my belt, I wasn’t sure the best route to take to start a career in film. After working as a Production Assistant on some full budget films I learned that a good portfolio and experience is really what you need to make a name for yourself. “One Shot” was written in 2015 by me, Arthur Stevens as a writing experiment for a character idea. As career paths evolved and hobbies grew into projects I found myself drawn more and more to Film Production and entering my first year of college I decided to pursue a career in film.
Meeting now my best friend and business partner Louie Burgos, we decided the first project under both our names would be to turn that story (then titled “Call It A Beginning”) into a short film. Meeting people in and around campus, we put together a starting cast and crew of friends and are looking to turn the scripted story into a proper short. Because we plan to release the short on YouTube (and submit it to film festivals) and other social platforms for free, we knew that funding would be difficult. We decided to crowd fund when we realized to run things properly we would have to incentivize people (non-friends) to work for us. Offering our cast and crew a small stipend is the least we can do to ensure we have a reliable work force.
Funding the budget to purchase beginning equipment like steady cams and extra batteries will help us create the best product possible. With almost everything ready for production in April 2019, were ready to open this campaign and get help from the community. A sincere thanks from the two of us at Nine Am Studios, we hope to hear from you! www.kickstarter.com
