Los Angeles — Caspian Darke (Talyn – Seed of Darkness) and Jon Lee (Riot Games) have recently launched a project on Kickstarter – THE NIGHTLINGS, a Grimdark fantasy comic drawing wide inspiration from DND to Dark Souls to Guardians of Galaxy.

Heroes and Villains: Caspian Darke and Jon Lee want the villains to save the night in The Nightlings, a new comic series on Kickstarter.
In a world where all the heroes have fallen and the land is literally covered by darkness, a god-like and immortal Emperor is stricken with an illness that diminishes his power to block the deadly sun. To his surprise, a portent reveals seven shadows destined to save him: Gelibor, Ranger, Brother Kaster Nogura, Lilly Feldring, Valmyre, Princess Shriya, and Ahmrilas. This grim fellowship must travel to the ends of the land to retrieve a relic and save humanity.
One of the general themes of THE NIGHTLINGS is the exploration of redemption and the question: do villains or anti-heroes banished to the fringes of society deserve a chance to save it? Many times, the “anti-hero” has accepted their personal malevolence; processed a deep understanding and fear of their flaws. The scenario of THE NIGHTLINGS is what if a powerful tyrant on death’s door summons a fellowship of these flawed anti-heroes to complete a heroic mission, and this mission forces them to confront their flaws to save the world?
THE NIGHTINGS writer Caspian Darke is the co-creator of Talyn – Seed of Darkness, a project funded on Kickstarter and slated for release through Scout Comics. The Nightlings #1 also features main cover art from series artist Jon Lee and variant covers from Banished Shadow (popular artist/co-creator of Talyn – Seed of Darkness) and Ben Tobitt (director of animation of BAFTA-nominated historical children’s series The Story of Britain).
