Illumoscope’s new FX model and 150x microscope combination increases the range and versatility of the already unique iPhone Macrophotography/Magnification system which debuted August of last year. A Kickstarter campaign video (see the link below) takes the viewer thru the full range of magnification 0 to 150x in 30 seconds, with stops at normal camera (1x), 7x, 75x and finishing with imaging at 150x of a prepared microscope slide.
The Illumoscope is an affordable, easy to use iPhone macrophotography platform for school, home, or industry. All Illumoscope models feature custom optics for magnification, a conditioned light system that uses the iPhones built in light for illumination, and attachment points that allow for the device to be used for specialty purposes, such as the 150x microscope. These three Illumoscope features are housed in an area slightly larger than a nickel on the corner of the patent pending flip case. In her Aug 15, 2013 TechCrunch post, (see the link below) Natasha Lomas writes “the Illumoscope goes one better” than other Macro lens iPhone accessories “by supporting multiple use-cases, not merely the taking of pretty close-ups”.
The original Illumoscope was conceived by Doctor of Audiology Rhea Gage as a way for hearing aid patients to look into their own ear canal to check for wax buildup. During the development phase of the project, it became obvious that the combination of features needed to reach her goal could be customized and used for a variety of applications. At present the Illumoscope can support uses such as a short range borescope, 150x microscope, macrophotography camera, macro videography camera, in addition to a full range of magnification levels available for hundreds of uses. Conditioned controllable lighting is available if needed in all of these modes. A sample of the intended uses can be seen on the Illumoscope you tube channel. (see the link below)
