XiOne, the portable SDR – Software Defined Radio!
Indiegogo campaign launched. XiOne the first Software Defined Radio easy to use with smartphones and fully open to the maker community.
We like to announce our new Indiegogo Crowd Funding Campaign to produce XiOne, the first fully portable SDR – Software Defined Radio, extremely versatile in its applications. The wide range of use cases include wideband receiver (100 kHz – 1.7 GHz), Broadband Spectrum Analyzer as well as special applications like ship and airplane trackers receiving AIS and ADS-B radio signals. Even special applications in the domain of signal intelligence or DIY radio astronomy are realizable.
Together with smartphones and tablets (iPad and iPhone prototype applications available), XiOne becomes a fully mobile solution including the hardware and a software bundle for the most common use cases to step into a new world of radio frequency solutions without the need for special knowledge and therefore steep learning curves.
It is our goal to offer XiOne as a completely open development platform to unleash the creative potential of the maker community. Well documented application interfaces and a Software Development Kit, including code examples, make it easy to start the integration of innovative applications to continuously enhance XiOne’s capabilities.

Applications where XiOne excels
- Radio Receiver demodulating FM, AM, SSB, DSB in a frequency range of 100 kHz up to 1.7 GHz.
- Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) receiver to map aircraft positions, speed, altitude, course and flight numbers within a range of up to 200 km.
- Automatic Identification System (AIS) to display ship positions, speed and course.
- Wideband Spectrum Analyzer to display the power density spectrum of a 20 MHz bandwidth. This can be used to get a qualitative idea of the RF exposure at the point of measurement.
