On March 3rd, Massolution released their 2015 Real Estate Crowdfunding report which contains “150 pages of comprehensive data on the size and composition of real estate crowdfunding.” This report goes hand in hand with their earlier reports, including one on the outlook of the crowdfunding industry in 2013 and an analysis of the different software solutions available to launch a crowdfunding platform.
“Crowdfunding for Real Estate has emerged as one of the hottest crowdfunding categories. Find out how much, of the expected $10 billion plus overall worldwide crowdfunding market volume, crowdfunding for real estate raised in 2014 and what the composition and outlook is for this important asset class in 2015 and beyond.”
The industry report includes a variety of topics on the real estate niche including Real Estate As An Asset Class, Legal Frameworks, Real Estate Crowdfunding in 2014, and more. Unlike other reports put out by Massolution, this report does not include a preview of the statistical information it contains, other than a table of contents.
“The report offers invaluable insight and data for real estate industry stakeholders, investors looking to expand their portfolios, sponsors/developers looking for financing for projects, crowdfunding analysts, platform operators, as well as academics, journalists, and other industry observers.”
According to our own analysis, real estate crowdfunding, these platforms in particular, has seen a tremendous amount of growth in the past few years, particularly due to the fact that there is a physical asset underlying the investment opportunity. In addition, the JOBS Act has spurred on hopes that Americans with an average net worth will one day be able to invest in the same real estate opportunities that are not only available to accredited investors (see how to become one).
Although only time will tell if the JOBS Act will lead to a real estate investment boom in the likes which we have never seen, it is clear that real estate crowdfunding as it exists now is growing aggressively and rivals REITS as an investment opportunity.
