Keystone Grommet

The Keystone Grommet is easy to install, durable, and attractive!
Nobody likes a mess of cables on their desk, so why not hide it all under the desk, and just plug into the desk ports when you need them?

The Keystone Grommet is Designed for Everyone!
Whether you want the Keystone Grommet installed with Cat6 and HDMI ports in the boardroom table of your Fortune 500 company, or you want a Keystone Grommet installed in your office desk to conveniently plug in your headphones and desk phone, or you want a couple USB charging ports embedded in your nightstand at home, you can take advantage of the Keystone Grommet!

Why was the Keystone Grommet created?
Keystone jack inserts are common in wall plates for home and office networking and audio/video setups. I was looking to install an HDMI port in a boardroom table, but there was nothing in a justifiable price range. Wall plates that could accept an HDMI keystone insert could be purchased for under $5, but for a device to attractively install an HDMI port in a table or desk was closer to the $100 range. I decided that should change!

UNIVERSAL Design Supports a Multitude of Port Types!
One great feature about the Keystone Grommet is that it accepts a large selection of different readily available keystone inserts – the same ones that common wall plates use. (You’ll just want to get them in black so they match!) Some of the types of keystone inserts available include HDMI, Ethernet Network (Cat6/5e), audio, USB, and phone – but there’s many others as well! And, as new technologies and cable types come along, you can simply unsnap the old insert from the grommet, and snap in the new style!

Why We Need You
Creating molds for plastic injection molding is an expensive process. We already have made detailed 3D drawings and have 3D printed prototypes, but taking it to the next step needs additional capital. Building the molds to produce one Keystone Grommet at a time is currently looking to cost around $6,000, and that still has a high per-unit cost. Depending on how much backing we receive, we could get 8 cavity molds that would produce them much faster at a much lower price point, but this would require over $20,000 up front capital. We think the Keystone Grommet should be successful, but we want to know what YOU think as well. By pre-ordering your Keystone Grommet today with a Kickstarter pledge, you can let us know that you think it’s a good idea as well!
